I. Position Purpose/Scope:
Develops and directs the procurement of materials, parts, equipment, and supplies for the organization by procurement of various goods and services (commodities) to serve the immediate, short-, medium-, and long-term needs and requirements of the Plant Spartanburg internal customers by achieving the best cost-performance ratio for the organization.
II. Position Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
o Drives and guides all activities of the procurement process chain and proactively supports internal customers at the respective interfaces.
o Organizes and directs activities in accordance with existing Plant Spartanburg and BMW Group guidelines, regulations and policies.
o Utilizes the BMW international purchasing network (NOC) to achieve best working results.
o Defines, together with the technical departments, the specific requirements of the commodity, including preliminary specifications and/or scope of work, potential suppliers, timelines and others.
o Ensures, in close cooperation with legal, finance, and other departments, that all contractual and commercial issues of the potential contract are resolved .
o Solicits and evaluates within its responsibilities, bids and quotations from suppliers for the requested commodity, leads negotiations and prepares recommendation to management for awarding orders by adhering to existing guidelines and regulations of the BMW group respective Plant Spartanburg rules. Assists BMWMC Manager, Indirect Purchasing in investigating and searching the US and International supplier market and/or interviews potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements.
o Uses appropriately existing BMW group supplier databases and supplier evaluation and development processes and systems.
o Negotiates the best cost-performance ratio for the commodity balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs, through cost and price analysis, as delegated by the BMWMC Manager, Indirect Purchasing.
o Implements purchase contracts by using existing procurement systems (SAP,SRM) that complies with company regulations.
o Supports supplier development, continuous improvement and reporting per BMWMC guidelines.
o Performs other duties as assigned by BMW MC Operations Supervisor.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
